"My son was sent to two mental hospitals before committing a terrible crime. I know my child and he was not in his right mind. I was even afraid, because I knew he was not the person I gave birth to. His father and I tried so hard to get help from the Philadelphia police department to get him off the streets. He was not himself.
That same day we went to two police station. Got an updated 401 (insane papers) to get him off the streets. The police department told us it was nothing they can do unless he harm himself or others. That night he killed a cab driver. Now my only child is in the mental unit of Trenton state prison for 57 years, all because the judge said he was sane.
I am his mother and I know that he was not in his right mind. He refused to be around others for eight years, and in the eight years he only wrote five times, no calls and Trenton state will not let me know how he s doing because of a privacy act. While on the mental wing, he can t help me. Trenton won t help me and the system failed me. What is a mother to do now? Trenton state prison is not the facility for his state of mind. "

I worked at the prison from 1976 until 1990. I worked my way from the Classification Dept. to the Superintendent s Office. I was there long enough to work for Superintendent GH straight through to Asst. Superintendent WM and AT. I was there through the big storm when an escaped inmate got in the razor wire on the roof. I was there when the Superintendent at the tune got removed from office.

"My father kidnapped a little girl in 1949. He spent 25 years in Trenton state. He had another trial and was released. So help me God, I wish he never came out. He made our lives a living hell. My regret to this woman whose life he also ruined. I m so sorry for what he did. I don t care about mentioning his death. He died in the early 1970 s."

"I spent 15 years in the New Jersey prison system. As a kid I was in and out of what we called reform schools and I finally graduated to the big time in 1968. My total prison career was spent as a punk. I got rapedd in Trenton and my rep followed me to Rahway when I got transferred. Prison ain t no placce to go. Honestly, my life has been ruined but I got what I deserved. Armed robbery got me busted in the 60s and I haven t been employable since. Stay out of jail guys."
