Oklahoma: Court Clears Way for Executions

The Oklahoma Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected assertions by two death row inmates that they are entitled to know the source of the drugs that will be used to kill them. The court also lifted a stay of execution that it granted earlier in the week in a case that placed Oklahoma’s two highest courts at odds and prompted calls for impeaching justices on the Supreme Court. The decision paves the way for the inmates, Clayton Lockett and Charles Warner, to receive lethal injections at the state penitentiary in McAlester. A stay issued on Tuesday by Gov. Mary Fallin remains in place for Mr. Lockett until April 29, the same day Mr. Warner is scheduled to die. A spokesman for the governor said she was reviewing the court’s ruling.
